During the Syrian Revolution, a girl named Jude is forced to move with her pregnant mother from her home in Syria to Cincinnati, America. She misses her revolutionary brother and unrevolutionary father, and her cousin in America, Sarah, does not seem to like her. Jude can’t fit in at school, and she is very embarrassed to take special English lessons. In Syria, she had the best English in her school, but in America, everything seems too loud and too confusing. America is totally different from what she had expected. But with a role in the school play and new friends, Jude slowly accustoms to life in America.
