Salt Lake City

Written by:

Recently, I’ve been at Salt Lake City, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and more locations for over a week or so~

It was really fun for the most part, except for that last part where I got COVID from Grand Teton or on the plane back–but that’s for a later post.

First, we flew to Salt Lake City on July 31st. I reckon we only stayed there for something like 2 days but eh it was nice.

Important thing, though: IT’S EXTREMELY HOT.

As hot as Beijing (maybe/kinda), which is, well, very hot. I dunno, like 40 degrees Celsius.

And humid too.

We also ate P.F. Chang for the first time there and it was as horrible as I’d feared. Okay, it wasn’t HORRIBLE in general food terms, but you call that Chinese cuisine? No. Just no. It’s like Panda Express T_T

I feel kinda bad now for talking all about the bad parts of SLC first. Sorry, SLC.

On the other hand, the city itself’s pretty beautiful. There’s some landmarks that are pretttttty interesting.

Temple Square

Basically Temple Square is a really famous Mormon church area in SLC where we saw a lot of ginormous organs and learned about the history of Mormon people and how the religion spread.

Right.

That’s kinda about it.

I’m very much of a–whatdoyoucallit–atheist?

Wait.

Wait wait. I might be an agnostic, I dunno, I honestly don’t quite know but–

BUT the point is, I don’t have a specific religion.

It was still really fun though to listen to people talk about their religion. They’ve found something they can put their faith into, which is nice.

Capitol Building

Also went to the Capitol Building of the State of Utah or whateverelseitscalled.

That place made me feel real small, cause the buildings were WAYYY high up and it was WAYY big and echo-y. And gave me lots of… official cool government vibes.

I guess it’s supposed to do that?

It’s still really cool to be able to see where the government works inside and take pictures and look at the paintings on the roof.

Great Salt Lake

What’s a trip to Salt Lake City without a look at the, well, Salt Lake?

Honestly that part wasn’t very interesting cause it was just a huge lake that seemed to stretch on forever so it was kinda like a ocean without currents. Which is quite as fun.

Still we walked and drove around… took some photos… fooled around…

Just to note that we were on an island that was called Antelope Island and GUESS WHAT?

It didn’t have any antelopes.

(Past self, don’t worry, there’s a LOT of wild animals at Yellowstone that you’ll get bored).

Overall I can’t say much about Salt Lake City cause I wasn’t there for long, but it seems like a friendly and interesting city to me. I wish I got to stay there longer, maybe.

Expect the Yellowstone section of my vacation tomorrow! And after that, Grand Teton in who knows when. Then a cdrama review and a book (series) review, but that’ll probably be in ten eternities probably.
