Birdie Boyer and her family has just moved to the woods of Florida. She and her family are ready to grow crops and raise animals, but there are droughts, heat waves, cold chills and more. But above all, their neighbors, the Slaters, seem to want to give them trouble and hate them!

This book had a pretty interesting and unusual (in a good way) conflict. It’s mainly about trouble with neighbors, which I’ve never seen appear in any book. It was interesting and a bit weird, once again, in a good way. That’s about it for what I liked about Strawberry Girl.

I wasn’t that satisfied with this book’s ending, as with We Dream of Space. Yes, I had half expected and predicted the solution. But it came a bit too suddenly. One second, the two neighbors are fighting, and the next, everything’s peaceful.

And, like When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, this book didn’t have a huge impact on me, either. I don’t quite know why, but I don’t remember it clearly in my mind as with other books I love, and I wasn’t tempted to re-read it.

Overall, this book is pretty fascinating and new to me, but it wasn’t my favorite.
