Holling Hoodhood, The Son Who is Going to Inherit Hoodhood and Associates, has a teacher, Mrs. Baker, who hates his guts, just because he is Presbyterian. She tries many plots to get Holling in trouble, like trying to get him to retake sixth grade mathematics (he is in seventh grade). But almost all her plans fail, and she tries to bore Holling by making him read Shakespeare, but he sort of likes Shakespeare. Slowly, their friendship grows. But Mrs. Baker is not the only worry Holling has. There are many other problems. But Holling goes through all of them. I like this book because Holling is a good guy, I think.
